Beirut is a modern city on the coast of Lebanon, a country that was at a state of war until 1990. The features all the same kind of upscale restaurants, clubs and museums that one would expect to find in places like Paris or New York. The real eye opener to me is just how modern and similar these places are to the cities in the west.
