I've always wanted to bet on a horse race--I think something that stands out about most Arab countries is the variety of cultural activities. I was also surprised that I recognized a few of the paintings in the modern art museum. The views of Beirut were truly beautiful, and look like a paradise that many associate with the Greek islands. Yet another place to put on my travel list!
"The Real Beirut" video was very entertaining. I did not know that horse racing and gambling was so common in Lebanon. Food is also a huge part of the culture. The Sayah Hassoun Restaurant is located away from the city in a sea resort area. The large variety of fish offered is very appealing to me. The fried bread with sauce looks delicious! Another popular destination is the Robert Moawad museum. The museum was converted from a house, is now open to the public and features a library and a collection of jewels. I found it interesting that the collection includes the second biggest diamond in the world.
I liked how in the Real Beirut video they had animated maps of each local spot the women traveled and showed the viewer of. I would want to travel to the Sayah Hassoun Restaurant because of the location and beauty; it sits on the bluest waters and I found it interesting that you go inside yourself to pick out which fresh fish you want. I also have now learned that Beirut has the second largest diamond in the world, so who has the first? Unlike the United States shopping markets and commercials where the shop owners and magazine agencies scream in your face of all their new products, in the Basta Antique Market, you must search yourself for the newest imported items, and I thought that would be fun to do. It would be like an adventure!
Lebanon is a beautiful place and it looks fun. I like how relaxed the place is. I really want to visit Oceana because the resort looks like a dream vacation. I also liked the market because there were a lot of cool things in there. I also like that fact that you have to search for the things that you want to buy which is always fun because you might find other things that you might enjoy. Between the good music, market, resort, and the tasty looking food, I will definitely try to make it to Lebanon soon.
I have never been to Lebanon but it has definitely been on my to do list. The city life looks amazing and the shopping in the markets would be such an adventure. If the horse races are anything like camel races they would sure be very entertaining. I am not a big fish eater but the variety of fresh fish and sea creatures there looks to be the number one place to be if you're into sea food. I would love to see the second biggest diamond in the world. What an awesome thing to be known for. And how much bigger is the largest diamond in the world?
The videos on Lebanon prove the fact that Lebanon is a complex cultural and artistic hub. The variety of entertainment, from horse races to shopping prove that people may live in separate parts of the world but we all have common interests. Lebanon also proves to be a place of extravagance, culture, and beauty with the Moawad museum with its many beautiful jewels, pottery, and other precious artifacts that relay the country's rich cultural, artistic, and historic background.
After seeing these videos on Lebanon it is now one of the top places I want to visit. It seems that it has beautiful vacation resorts near the ocean that are some of the best I have ever seen. I visit the Florida Keys every summer for deep sea fishing and i thought it was awesome to see that Lebanon has fresh markets for fish and other items just like what I have seen in florida, because those are some of the best fresh seafood markets i have ever seen. I love learning about other nations and cultures and this is one of the best places I have seen.
After watching the videos on Lebanon and Beirut, I am now much more interested in the country than I was before having seen the videos. I had no idea that Lebanon was so diverse and I was very surprised to see how the nightlife was with the clubs and the parties by the pool. Lebanon is definitely on my list as a place that I hope to visit. I thought it was really appealing how the banana trees lined the road down to the ocean which was right outside the city. I was also very impressed by the foods in Lebanon and especially the portions. I like to eat and its obvious I wouldn't go hungry in there.

I found the scenic areas they showed in the video to be very beautiful and the art to be unique. Im not much of a seafood fan but I would definitely make the effort to experience the nightlife and resort style amenities found in areas of the country. Above all I would get lost in all the shopping I would do, because every bit of fashion there is outstanding.
