I found it very interesting how most of the Lebanese food is prepared closely with the hands, most Americans would normally find that unsanitary but the Lebanese feel it is a key part of bringing out the taste of the food. Watching the video almost immediately made me hungry because of all the different spices and ingredients and the love that the Lebanese people clearly put into preparing the food for whoever maybe eating eat. I was mostly surprised by how many of the Lebanese dishes that I saw that used yogurt in them. Another thing that I found interesting was the fact that the Lebanese people eat sweets throughout the meal and not just at the end like Americans do. Watching this video has made me want to go out and find a Lebanese restaurant an experience the food for myself.
I love the fact that when a persn is prepearing Lebanese food, it is natural and expected for them to use their hands. I think that the hands on part of the cooking is really great considering that most Americans would not allow that. I like that there are certain food items that are expected at every meal or are atleast available to eat at sometime during the day. The spices and fresh ingredients really do make Lebanese food special because there is nothing processed and you know exactly where the fod is coming from and how healthy and fresh it is.
Im in love. My favorite way to experience a culture is through food. I love how there is an excitement with Lebanese food. The colors are so vivid and they use all of your senses in the process of making it and eating it. I cant wait to try to make some of this food. I also do love that they use their hands it does make food taste better.
The food look very delicious, I would love to try a few Lebanese dishes for myself. I especially would like to try the fish. Fish is one of my all time favorite foods, and it seems to me that the fish taste as good as it looks.
Seeing videos about all these different countries for this class definitely makes me jealous of everyone who has been able to go and experience thing outside of this country. One day, I hope to be able to go to Lebanon, on a non-military trip so that I can be immersed into this different culture, as well as to Qatar, Jordan, or Saudi Arabia. All these foods look delicious! I would just have to try not to be rude and avoid asking them to cover their hands!
