Captain Abu Raed part 7

  1. I enjoy how the director came up with such a fascinting plot for the movie. How the audience was able to see and feel the unfilled desires for traveling and experiencing the world that the airport janitor has. It reminds you of the imagination and thrill that children have of the unknown. It is so sweet that the janitor pretends to the children that he is the pilot that they think he is, and he opens up a world for them that they only can picture in their heads! I think it was a good choice for a movie because I always thought that foriegn films and arabic films would be religious and war-torn themed, but they can create ordinary movies that depict the lives of arabs within their own nations in joyful and interesting tones!

It was interesting to see abu reeds struggle to be well liked by the children in could tell that he enjoyed telling stories to them every day of his imaginative dreams of being a pilot. It was very heart wrenching to see abu reed continue to try to help the children in any way he could even when they found out he was lying to them. I never knew that Arabic movies could tell such interesting stories and I look forward to watching many more.

  3. This movie made me cry. At first, I was skeptical, I thought the plot was moving way too fast, and thought that I knew exactly where it was going - but I was wrong about that. What I enjoyed most about this movie was how it showed this town, and it's people go about their everyday life, with their own individual problems as people. Seeing all the different personalities, and not the same cliche Arab person was quite refreshing - especially Nour, the pilot. Her character broke the stereotype often seen of middle eastern women sitting at home, taking care of their daughters.
