Before this video I did not even know the location of Jordan now I know it sits next to Israel. I was unaware of the fact that it was a monarchy. Now I know that it has a monarchy. It taught me a lot about Islamic affairs with females. I did not know there were so many needs that could be helped on the philanthropic level with the Islamic community in the Arab world. It gave me a new picture of Islamic women. This series unlike the other was different because it feature one person in various settings. I don't mind this and in fact I found the conversation and topics very refreshing. These video home works are starting to help me better understand the Arab world and make me feel excited for the future of the class.

Queen Rania's story about the sandwiches was interesting to me because it was a prime example of how even very little things that we don't think about can differ between cultures. Also, she shows Arabic women in a role I don't think many people see, which is a very active and very outgoing role. I think with the ideas many people have of women in the Middle East being limited or oppressed, she gives light on just how wrong those preconceived ideas can be.

I've read on Jordan before and was aware of Jordan's philanthropic work. I found it interesting that she doesn't seem to fit the stereotypical role of a woman of islamic descent living in an arab country. I knew that Jordan was a Monarchy because King Abdullah appeared on an episode of Star Trek. However, I didn't know how beautiful the queen was. She seems to be very intelligent and able to voice her opinion on human rights. I didn't see her wearing a hijab either covering her hair like many other women in arabic countries. She seems to be well educated and aware that womens rights are essential in helping a country prosper.

The queen of Jordan is very commendable in her accomplishments. Not only is she the queen, but she does a lot of work for the education of women. She is not one of the queens that sit in her palace and does nothing. She goes out and interacts with her people. I would like to meet her one day to talk about the many things she has learned and encompassed while working in different countries to promote the education of women. One day I hope to help others in some of the ways that she has and she has served as an inspiration for me.
